A positive sense of self esteem is one of your child’s greatest gifts. Children with high self-esteem feel loved and skilled and become happy, productive people. So it is important to improve self esteem of child at initial stage.
Let us first understand,
Children who feel good about themselves have faith in trying new things. You’re more likely to try your best. You’re proud of what you can do. Self-esteem helps children cope with errors. It allows children to try again, even if at first, they fail. This will enable to improve self esteem of child at school, at home, and with friends.
Children with low self-esteem feel uncertain about themselves. If you think other people will not accept you, you may not join. You may allow others to treat you poorly. They may have difficulty standing up for themselves. They can give up easily, or they can’t try. Children with low self-esteem find it difficult to deal with errors, losses, or failures. As a consequence, they cannot do as well as they can.
Self-esteem can begin as early as childhood. Over time, it develops slowly. It can only start because a youngster feels secure, loved, and welcomed. It might begin when a new born gets positive attention and love.
As new-borns become kids and young children, they can accomplish certain things on their own. They feel good about themselves if they can employ their new skills. To improve self esteem of teens, parents should pay attention to their new skills or certain attempts, allow a child to attempt new things, smile, and show you are proud.
Making time for our kids will help them feel important to us. Have fun and conduct activities together, such as watching a movie or playing ball games.
Pay complete attention to our children and listen to them. Ask them about their friends, teachers, and school activities to learn how they cope. Provide advice or assistance as necessary.
Children are regularly chastised for what they did wrong and rarely complimented for good conduct. As a result, people can believe they can never be good enough. Praise them every time they perform a good deed, whatever minor it may be. For instance, ‘you have maintained your books correctly, good work!’ This helps to strengthen positive behaviours and improve self-esteem.
When our children are disciplined, avoid using phrases such as lazy, unholy, or foolish since they don’t tell them what the acceptable behaviour is and they can believe that they can never be good enough. Instead, reprimand the negative behaviour of our children by emphasizing the inadequacy of their actions. You can tell them you love them but don’t like their behaviour can make them more aware of their activities.
Avoid comparisons, and do not make them feel as if they did not do well. This lowers their self-morality and self-worth, which in turn may make children less interested in learning and less driven to achieve their best. Praise them instead for their efforts and discuss how to step by step enhance their performance.
It is crucial to encourage our children to remain cheerful and optimistic in the face of problems. This helps increase self-confidence and self-esteem and helps them recover from backs and failures, and keeps working hard.
Help our kids discover their strengths. Encourage them to try various interests and activities. Tell them that various people have different abilities and nice things and should be proud of their good at.
Confide in our children with modest chores to achieve. Praise them after they’re done. This will make them feel happy to take on such obligations. Assure them of their support if they have challenges or make mistaken judgments. This helps foster self-confidence and independence as you learn from your experiences.
